When visibility and operations pull in opposite directions

Hi Reader,

There's often a season in business that sets in when you are trying to grow your visibility and run a business at the same time, and the business behind the scenes is not quite ready for both.

You'll recognise what it looks like....

The push to show up more post more, be more present in your market. The advice to get visible, build trust, be consistent. All of it reasonable and most of it well intentioned (even if it's not that comfortable to hear sometimes!).

And then you try to do it, and you hit the wall. Not because you lack discipline or ideas or the desire to be consistent. But because the operational capacity to sustain it is not there. The systems that would make it easier to produce and distribute content regularly are patchy. The headspace required to think and write clearly is being used up by the admin of a business that still needs too much of your attention. There is no buffer.

So visibility becomes another thing on the list. One that feels important but competes with everything else, and usually loses.

What I'd like to say is this.

The advice to get more visible is not wrong. Visibility matters and the founders who build it consistently do grow faster. But the advice is incomplete if it does not account for the operational foundation underneath it.

Showing up more only works sustainably when the business behind it can handle what comes in. When your onboarding is not held together with manual effort. When your week has a rhythm that creates space. When the behind the scenes is steady enough that you can put energy into front facing visibility.

This is not about having a perfect business before you grow. It is about making sure the two are developing in proportion. Visibility that outpaces your operations creates a gap, and gaps are felt by clients, and eventually by you.

The businesses that grow most steadily are the ones where what you see on the outside is genuinely supported by what is happening on the inside. That match is not accidental. It is built before it becomes visible at all.

If the operational side needs attention before the visibility side can do its job, I've got three spots available for the Clarity Boost, and two spots available on the Ops and Flow Boost through to the end of August. If being more visible is on your Q3 list, but you know your business isn't quite ready, I'd love to talk.

Have a good week,

Katie

PS: and talking of visibility, I'm regularly on LinkedIn, so if that's your visibility platform of choice too, I'd love to connect!
