Hi Reader,
Let me tell you a little story about something that's been happening over the last few weeks in my business, because I think it’s a good reminder that even when you’ve done all the right things, sometimes the right thing ends up being a pivot.
For months now, I’ve been quietly working behind the scenes on a new offer — a 'membermind' (part mastermind, part membership) under the 43 Degrees North brand, you'll have read about it here, and seen some links around on social media. It was all about aligned operations, helping business owners build the inner workings of their business in a way that feels strategic and energising, and above all simple.
The concept made sense. It was well thought through. My ideal members liked it. But when I started to actually talk about it with the name, I could feel the friction.
People would say “I love it!”, but then ask, “Wait, what is it exactly?”
Or they’d repeat the name 43 Degrees North with a slightly confused look.
Or they’d try to explain it and completely miss the point.
It wasn’t landing.
Not because the idea was wrong. But because the positioning wasn’t clear enough. The name that felt creative and meaningful to me didn’t match what people needed it to say.
So after some deep thinking (and lots of coffee), I made the call:
I'm pivoting.
The community that was 43 Degrees North will still go ahead (in fact, very soon!), but under a new name. It’s clear. It says what it does on the tin. And more importantly, it gives people a way to talk about it, share it, and get behind it. More on that next week!
But for now, here’s what I want you to know...
This wasn’t a decision I wanted to make. I loved the original idea (I still do). I’d already invested time and energy in to it. But I was reminded that clarity trumps cleverness, and that momentum often comes after the pivot, not before it.
And just in case you're wondering, 43 Degrees North as a brand isn’t going anywhere!
If anything, it’s evolving into what it was probably always meant to be. Not offer, but a true asset in my business, a bigger brand that reflects more of who I am and what I care about.
It holds space for the strategic side of what I do, but also the visionary, creative, and lifestyle-driven side too. It speaks to the part of me that values beautiful environments, high standards, thoughtful detail, and the feeling of living well while building something meaningful.
It’s a different energy. And I'm loving it! Again more soon!
This pivot isn’t the end. It’s actually just the bit where the whole 'thing' gets clearer, stronger, and easier to grow into.
If you're navigating your own blurry middle, between a vision you know is good and traction that just isn’t happening yet — I see you!
It doesn’t always mean stop.
But it might mean shift.
Here’s to knowing when to let go… and knowing what’s still worth holding onto.
Until next time,
Katie
